  Dr Colin Hicks

I am a qualified Counselling Psychologist and have obtained chartership status with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and am a registered counselling psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).  I am also an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I have been practicing since 2006 and alongside my private clinic hold a senior management position in the NHS running psychological therapy services.

As a Counselling Psychologist, my aim is not to tell you how to fix your problems but to help you expore your issues in a safe, non-judgemental respectful environment. We will collaboratively work towards resolving your problems and distress whether this is through a movement towards change or acceptance.

I have been trained to use several different theoretical models in my practice, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and integrative psychotherapy. Central to my way of working are the needs of my clients and their preferred way of addressing their problems.  For example, some clients prefer a more reflective ‘counselling’ approach whereas others prefer a more proactive problem-solving approach.

  • BPS Chartered Psychologist

  • Health and Care Professions Council Registered Psychologist / Counselling Psychologist

  • BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

As a practicing psychologist I undertake regular clinical supervision with a senior colleague and maintain continuous professional development (CPD) in line with my accreditations
